Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden AB (“SBB”) is starting construction of a new nursing and care home at Tenstaterrassen in Stockholm, with construction scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024. The home will offer 80 beds spread over 8 wards and 6 floors. With its location next to Järvafältet, residents will have easy access to nature, recreation, and good transport links in the neighbourhood.
“We look forward to contributing, together with the tenant Ersta diakoni, to new and much-needed housing for the elderly in Stockholm. Our joint ambition is to create a home-like environment with a design that invites people to socialise both indoors and outdoors,” says Mats Silow, Project and Property Development Manager at SBB.
The design will combine aesthetics and functionality with a brick and wood-panelled façade that harmonises with the surroundings while meeting high sustainability standards. The building will include stimulating and safe environments for the elderly, with a roof terrace where residents can walk, garden, socialise and enjoy views of the nature reserve. Indoors, the facility will offer a swimming pool, gym and sauna. The common areas of the units, such as the kitchen and living room, are strategically located to be easily accessible from all apartments. The building will fulfil high environmental and energy standards and will be certified according to Miljöbyggnad 4.0 at Silver level.
“Starting this facility and having the opportunity to help more people is very gratifying. We want to create a home that encourages participation in everyday life and recognises people's specific needs. Our values of ‘seeing the person’ characterise our non-profit activities,”’ says Stefan Nilsson, Director at Ersta Diakoni.
For this project, SBB has entered into a turnkey contract with COBAB.
