Morphic Technologies’ subsidiary, Cell Impact AB, has today signed a collaboration agreement with a component supplier within the Chinese automotive industry. The purpose of the agreement is the adaptation of the customer´s fuel cell plates for production.
The customer is a recognized supplier of a variety of components to a number of Chinese automotive manufacturers. Fuel cells gain a lot of interest in China and the demand for mass produced fuel cells is expected to be very large.
This agreement, like previously announced collaboration agreements, entails customizing the customer’s fuel cell plates to reach optimal production efficiency and performance. The flow plates are intended for fuel cell stacks for vehicles.
“The Chinese automotive industry is really focusing on providing fuel cell vehicles for their domestic market as soon as possible”, says Martin Valfridsson, CEO for Cell Impact AB. “The industry is also supported by the governments clear strategy and involvement to reduce harmful greenhouse gases. That stimulates a fast introduction of fuel cells within transports and the automotive industry”.
Cell Impact AB currently produces test series of flow plates for fuel cells within a number of areas; fuel cells for vehicles, backup power, portable electronics and laptop computers. The purpose of the test series is to adapt the customers flow plates in preparation for possible mass production in Cell Impact’s production facilities.
A fuel cell system produces electricity when hydrogen reacts with oxygen. The system is highly efficient as compared to other energy systems and water is the only waste product the conversion produces, making the technology environmentally friendly.
