Tellus Towers, a project being developed by SSM in a joint venture with global financial partner Partners Group, has been nominated for this year’s YIMBY prize. The YIMBY, or “Yes In My Backyard,” prize is awarded each year to an individual or organization that has contributed to making Stockholm a more integrated, sustainable and vibrant urban area.
The YIMBY prize in honor of Albert Lindhagen is granted every year to a organization that has contributed to making Stockholm a more integrated, sustainable and vibrant place to live. This year, Tellus Towers has been nominated, with YIMBY’s jury’s citation as follows:
“Despite a number of setbacks, they have demonstrated resilience, coming back with a proposal for greater exploitation than in their original proposal. Their example demonstrates that it’s possible to build to new heights/exploit space further in a neighborhood and to integrate planning by building close to public transport that reduces the need for car traffic.”
“We’re proud and happy to have been nominated for this year’s Nimby prize. Tellus Towers will house more than one thousand Stockholmers on a piece of land no bigger than two medium-sized residential plots of land. It’s a sustainable and resource-efficient way to build many homes without requiring much land or green spaces,” says Mattias Roos, President & CEO of SSM.
About Tellus Towers
Tellus Towers, which is being developed at Telefonplan, will offer 1,200 space-efficient, sustainable and affordable homes with different forms of tenancy close to public transportation. Most of the units will be either one- or two-room apartments with direct access to subway and bus lines, reducing the need for car parking and in line with modern, sustainable residential development. Thanks to the project’s multi-use-of-space concept, tenants will enjoy more living per square meter than in traditional apartments. Tellus Towers will also create a new vibe around Telefonplan since the project also includes a hotel, restaurant, skybar and visitor center with services for the public. The two towers will be 80 and 60 stories each, or 235 m and 190
m high respectively.
Voting for the YIMBY prize closes on November 4, 2018. For more information about YIMBY, visit www.yimby.se
