The Board of Directors of Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden ABs (publ) (“SBB”) has updated SBB’s Vision 2030, which sets further rigorous demands on the company is terms of its own sustainability objectives. By 2030, SBB will be climate positive in the entire value chain at the same time as the property portfolio consists of 90 percent social assets and has been climate-adapted with regard to climate risks.
The basis for Vision 2030 is that SBB strives to be the most sustainable real estate company in the world and to set the agenda for sustainable development in the entire real estate industry. The previous goal has been to achieve climate neutrality by the year 2030, but given the latest climate report from the IPCC which shows an acute global warming, SBB believes that the work must be intensified with further rigorous demands compared to previously.
Vision 2030 covers objectives at the overall level and within the three sub-areas environmental sustainability, social sustainability and economic sustainability and governance. Below is a selection of the goals. The complete framework is presented on SBB’s website (https://corporate.sbbnorden.se/en/sustainability/).

“Sustainability is fully integrated into SBB’s business model, and the Board of Directors and Management see it as our absolute responsibility to do everything we can to limit climate change. Our roadmap to 2030 includes accelerated efforts regarding energy efficiency improvements in the entire property portfolio, expansion of solar and wind power as well as charging posts, and strict requirements for a climate-efficient construction process. In 2030, more than 100 per cent of SBB’s electricity needs will be covered by solar and wind power. At the same time, we continue to focus on new construction in wood from certified forestry, focus on building in areas close to public transport and work close with the municipalities in their social housing work.”
