On 9 September 2021, Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden AB (publ) (“SBB”) signed a 15-year lease agreement with the Police, regarding the new police station in Örnsköldsvik.

“The Swedish Police Authority is an important tenant for us, and it is gratifying that we can now take the next steps in the construction of a new, modern and sustainable police station in Örnsköldsvik. The project is an important part in the development of Örnsköldsvik and is in line with our strategy to be the Nordic region’s leading real estate company in social infrastructure,” says Christer Melander, Regional Manager North at Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden AB.

The new environmentally classified police station will be built next to the E4 motorway, below Paradisbadet with a total area of close to 9,000 sqm. The central location in combination with a new and more modern architecture is considered to be able to meet the needs of the Police in the long term.

“We have been needing more appropriate premises for a long time. In a new police station, we will be able to grow at the same time as we can contribute to increased security and a higher police presence in the local community,” says Dick Danielsson, Local Police Area Manager, Norra Ångermanland.

“This is an important step in the project that enables a safer city and a positive development and densification of the city centre,” says Marcus Elfving, Property Strategist at the Municipality of Örnsköldsvik.

Work on the detailed development plan is ongoing and construction is expected to commence in 2023. In accordance with the preliminary timeline, the new police station will be completed in 2025 and will be built as Miljöbyggnad Silver.
